Experience and Knowledge to Guide Your Family to Harmony
My Training And Experience
I started my mediation training through York University’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Certification, then received two years of family mediation training at the Jarvis Street Family Courthouse Mediation Service in downtown Toronto. My mediation studies continued with a clinical family psychologist and parent coordinator, and I trained in family mediation from a senior family mediator with a social work background.
I have conducted family mediation in my solo family law practice, and understand the challenges and promises mediation offers to families and people who are separating.
As a sessional mediation lecturer, teaching family mediation courses at Ontario Technical University over the past several years, I have furthered my understanding of current issues that arise for separating couples and families.
I hold an up-to-date certification in screening for Domestic Violence and Power Imbalances approved by the Ontario Association for Family Mediation. My certification is Law Society accredited for professional hours.
My training has provided me with a variety of skills to bring to bring to mediation. My broad skill-set allows me to provide personalized approaches to any mediation.
My Education
My graduate studies provided me with a solid backing for family mediation. In addition to my law degrees (LLB & JD), I have a PhD in law from Osgoode Hall Law School and a Masters Degree in Critical Disability Studies. My graduate research involved examinations of family law, child welfare law, health law, disability law and other areas of law relevant to families.
I am a non-practicing Barrister and Solicitor member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario.
